Harris Teeter gives you three ways to reset your password. One of these will definitely work.

Method 1: Email Verification (Most Common & Reliable)

When to use: You have access to your email and your email is working

Why it’s best: Fastest, most reliable, works in almost all cases

Step-by-step:

Step 1: Go to the Login Page

  • Open https://myhtspace.harristeeter.com
  • You should see the login page with username and password fields
  • Look for Forgot Password? link below the fields (usually in blue)

Step 2: Click Forgot Password?

  • Click the link
  • You’ll be taken to the Password Reset page

Step 3: Identify Yourself

  • You’ll see a field asking for your Username or Email
  • Enter either:
    • Your username (the one you created during account registration)
    • OR your email address (the one tied to your account)
  • The system accepts either one
  • Click Next

Step 4: Select Email Verification

  • The system will show you your email address
  • It should show something like: j***h@gmail.com (last part is hidden for privacy)
  • Verify this is your email
  • Click Send Reset Link or Send Code

What happens next:

  • Harris Teeter sends a password reset email to your address
  • The email arrives within 5 minutes (sometimes immediately)
  • Check your spam folder – it sometimes goes there

Step 5: Check Your Email

  • Open your email
  • Find the message from MyHTSpace or Harris Teeter
  • The email will have either:
    • A clickable link that says Reset Password
    • A 6-digit code

If you got a link:

  1. Click the link in the email
  2. The link takes you to a password reset page
  3. Skip ahead to Setting Your New Password below

If you got a code:

  1. Copy the 6-digit code from the email
  2. Go back to MyHTSpace
  3. Paste the code into the field asking for Reset Code
  4. Click Verify
  5. Skip ahead to Setting Your New Password

Method 2: Text Message Verification (SMS)

When to use: Your email isn’t working, but you have your phone

Step 1: Go to Password Reset Page

Step 2: Select Text Message Option

  • You’ll see options for how to verify
  • Look for Send Code via Text or Text Message
  • Make sure the phone number shown is correct
  • Click Send Code

Step 3: Get Text Message

  • You’ll receive a text message with a 6-digit code
  • It comes from Harris Teeter or MyHTSpace
  • Usually arrives within 1-2 minutes

Step 4: Enter the Code

  • Go back to MyHTSpace website
  • Enter the 6-digit code you received via text
  • Click Verify

Step 5: Set New Password

Method 3: Security Questions

When to use: Email and text aren’t working, but you remember your security questions

Step 1: Go to Password Reset Page

Step 2: Select Security Questions Option

  • You’ll see options for verification method
  • Look for Answer Security Questions
  • Click that option

Step 3: Answer the Questions

  • Harris Teeter will ask you 2-3 security questions you set up during account creation
  • These are questions like:
    • What was the name of your first pet?
    • What city were you born in?
    • What is your mother’s maiden name?
  • Answer them exactly as you originally answered them
  • Answers are case-sensitive Charlotte is different from charlotte

Step 4: Verify Your Answers

  • Click Verify Answers
  • If correct, you’ll proceed to reset your password
  • If wrong, you’ll get an error message

Once you’ve verified your identity (using email, text, or security questions), you’ll see the Create New Password page.

Password Requirements

Your new password must have:

  • Minimum 12 characters (longer is better)
  • At least one UPPERCASE letter (A-Z)
  • At least one lowercase letter (a-z)
  • At least one number (0-9)
  • At least one special character (!@#$%^&*)

Strong Password Examples

  • NewPassword2024!Blue

Weak Password Examples (Don’t Use These)

  • harris2024 – no special character
  • password123 – no uppercase letter

Steps to Create New Password

Step 1: Type Your New Password

  • Click in the New Password field
  • Type your new password
  • Meet all the requirements above
  • The system shows you a strength indicator (Weak → Strong)
  • Aim for Strong

Step 2: Confirm Your Password

  • Click in the Confirm Password field
  • Type the same password again
  • Exactly the same, including capitalization
  • If it doesn’t match, you’ll get an error when you click Update

Step 3: Review Requirements

  • Check that your password meets all requirements:
    • ✅ 12+ characters? Count them
    • ✅ Uppercase letter? Look for A-Z
    • ✅ Lowercase letter? Look for a-z
    • ✅ Number? Look for 0-9
    • ✅ Special character? Look for !@#$%^&*

Step 4: Click “Update Password”

  • Click the button
  • The system verifies your password meets requirements
  • If everything is good, your password is reset

  • You’ll see “Password Updated Successfully”

If Standard Methods Don’t Work

Email Not Arriving

What to try:

  1. Wait 5 more minutes – sometimes emails are slow
  2. Check your spam/junk folder (very common)
  3. Check your trash/deleted items folder
  4. Try a different email address if you have one on your account
  5. Try the text message method instead
  6. Try security questions method

How to check spam folder:

  • Gmail: Look left side, click “More,” then “Spam”
  • Outlook/Hotmail: Look folders, click “Junk Email”
  • Yahoo: Click “Spam” in left sidebar

Text Message Not Arriving

What to try:

  1. Wait 2-3 minutes longer
  2. Make sure your phone is getting signal (no airplane mode)
  3. Try the email method instead
  4. Try security questions method
  5. Update your phone number in Harris Teeter records first

How to update your phone number:

  • If you can access an old account or email that works, update it there
  • OR call HR and have them update your phone number
  • Then try the text method again

If text is still not arriving:

  • Your service provider might be blocking it
  • Call Harris Teeter support instead

Can’t Remember Security Questions

What to try:

  1. Think about what you answered originally
  2. Try different capitalizations
  3. Try slight spelling variations
  4. Contact HR – they might help remind you
  5. Skip to calling support

Account Locked

If you’ve tried to login or reset password too many times, your account gets locked for security.

What you’ll see:

  • “Your account has been locked due to multiple failed attempts”
  • “Try again in 30 minutes”
  • “Please contact support if you continue to have issues”

How long it lasts:

  • Usually 30 minutes
  • Sometimes up to 1-2 hours
  • Depends on Harris Teeter’s security settings

What to do:

  1. Wait 30+ minutes – just come back later
  2. Or call HR immediately – they can unlock it faster
  3. Or call MyHTSpace Support – they can unlock it

Phone Number/Email Changed Since Account Creation

If you’ve changed your phone number or email since creating your account and haven’t updated it in MyHTSpace:

Fix it:

  1. You’ll need to call HR or support to update your contact info first
  2. Once updated, try the reset process again
  3. Or use security questions method (doesn’t require email or phone)

Better solution:

  • Call HR with your employee ID
  • Tell them your contact info has changed
  • They update it
  • Then try resetting password

What to Do If You Still Can’t Reset

Option 1: Contact HR (Fastest)

Go to your store’s HR desk with a government ID.

What they’ll do:

  • Verify your identity
  • Reset your password for you
  • Give you a temporary password
  • You set permanent password when you get home
  • Usually takes 5-10 minutes

Option 2: Call MyHTSpace Support

After You Reset Your Password

First Login After Reset

Step 1: Go to https://myhtspace.harristeeter.com Step 2: Enter your username Step 3: Enter your new password (not the old one) Step 4: Click “Login” Step 5: You’re in!

Update Your Contact Information

Once logged in, update your contact info so you don’t get locked out again:

  1. Click your name in the top right
  2. Go to “Account Settings” or “Profile”
  3. Update your phone number (if it changed)
