If you’re a Harris Teeter employee, MyHTSpace is your digital workspace. It’s the employee portal where you manage pretty much everything related to your job here your pay stubs, benefits, schedule, time-off requests, personal information, tax documents, you name it.
Honestly, when I first started at Harris Teeter, I didn’t understand why MyHTSpace mattered so much. But after my first paycheck, my first benefits question, and my first time needing to print a W2, I realized: MyHTSpace is pretty much essential. You can’t access your benefits information, check your schedule, request time off, or download your tax documents without it. And the best part? It’s available 24/7, so you don’t have to wait until your store manager is available to answer questions you can answer yourself.

What Can You Do in MyHTSpace?
- View your pay stubs – Check your earnings, deductions, and net pay for every paycheck
- Manage your benefits – Enroll in health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness programs
- Request time off – Submit vacation and personal time requests without bothering your manager
- Check your schedule – See your work schedule for the next several weeks
- Update your personal information – Change your address, phone number, emergency contacts
- Download tax documents – Get copies of your W2, 1098, and other tax forms
- Set up direct deposit – Add your bank account for paycheck deposits
- Access company announcements – Stay informed about company news and policy changes
The bottom line: MyHTSpace saves you time and gives you control over your employment information.

Important: Browser Extensions & Settings
Some browser extensions can interfere with MyHTSpace login. Here’s what I recommend:
Disable these extensions when logging in:
- Ad-blockers (uBlock Origin, AdBlock Plus)
- Password managers (LastPass, 1Password) – they sometimes interfere
- VPN extensions
- Privacy extensions (Ghostery, Privacy Badger)
You can re-enable them after you’re logged in—it’s just the login page that sometimes has issues.
Also check:
- Make sure JavaScript is enabled (it’s on by default)
- Clear your browser cache if you haven’t done so in a while
- Make sure cookies are allowed
Step-by-Step Login Process
Alright, let’s get you logged in. This is straightforward, but I’ll walk you through each step because small things can sometimes trip people up.
For First-Time Users
If this is your first time logging into MyHTSpace, you’ll need to create an account first. Skip ahead to that section, then come back here.
Logging In on Desktop/Laptop

Step 1: Go to the MyHTSpace Portal
- Open your web browser (Chrome is best)
- Go to https://myhtspace.harristeeter.com/ (bookmark this!)
- You should see a login page with the Harris Teeter logo
Step 2: Enter Your Username
- Click in the “Username” field
- Type your username
- This is the username you created when you registered, NOT your email address
- Username is case-sensitive, so “JSmith123” is different from “jsmith123”
Pro Tip: If you don’t remember your username, you can enter your email address instead. The system will usually recognize you.
Step 3: Enter Your Password
- Click in the “Password” field
- Type your password carefully
- Password is also case-sensitive
- If you don’t remember your password, click “Forgot Password?” (see the section below)
Step 4: (Optional) Select “Remember Me”
- If you’re on a personal computer and want MyHTSpace to remember your login, check the “Remember Me” box
- Don’t do this on a shared or public computer – it’s not secure
- Even on your personal computer, I’d recommend not checking this if you have roommates or family members who use your computer
Step 5: Click “Login”
- Click the blue “Login” button
- The page might load for a few seconds while the system verifies your credentials
- Be patient—don’t click it twice or close the page
What You Should See:
- If login is successful, you’ll be directed to your MyHTSpace Dashboard
- You should see your name, your store location, your job title, and some quick-access links
- If something goes wrong, you’ll see an error message (see Troubleshooting)
First Time? You’ll Need to Verify Your Identity
The first time you log in from a new device, Harris Teeter’s security system might ask you to verify your identity. Here’s what to expect:
Verification Method 1: Email Verification
- You’ll see a message: “We’ve sent a verification code to [your email]”
- Check your email inbox (and spam folder, just in case)
- Copy the 6-digit code
- Paste it into the verification field on MyHTSpace
- Click “Verify”
Verification Method 2: Phone Verification
- If email doesn’t work, the system will ask you to verify by phone
- You’ll get a text message (SMS) with a 6-digit code
- Type the code into the verification field
- Click “Verify”
Verification Method 3: Security Questions
- The system will ask you 2-3 security questions you set up during account creation
- Answer them based on what you registered
- Click “Verify”
After verification, you’re in. Your device is now “trusted” and you won’t have to verify every time.

Creating Your First Account
If you’re a new Harris Teeter employee or somehow don’t have a MyHTSpace account yet, here’s how to create one.
Before You Start: What You’ll Need
Have these things ready:
- Your Social Security Number (SSN) – Last 4 digits at minimum, full SSN ideally
- Your Email Address – A personal email you have access to right now
- Your Phone Number – A mobile number that can receive text messages
- Your Harris Teeter Employee ID – You should have this from orientation

- Basic Personal Information – Full legal name, address, date of birth
Account Creation Steps
Step 1: Go to the Registration Page
- Visit https://myhtspace.harristeeter.com/register
- You should see a registration form (not a login form)
- If you see a login page instead, you might already have an account—try resetting your password instead
Step 2: Enter Your Personal Information
- Full Name: Enter exactly as it appears on your I-9 and government ID
- Email Address: This is very important. Use an email you check regularly—you’ll get account verification codes here
- Date of Birth: Use MM/DD/YYYY format (for example, 03/15/1990)
- Social Security Number: The system will ask for your full SSN for security verification purposes
Step 3: Enter Your Harris Teeter Information
- Employee ID: You’ll find this on your employee ID badge or in your welcome packet
- Hire Date: This is the first day you worked at Harris Teeter (not your first interview)
- Store Number: The store location where you work
Step 4: Create Your Username and Password
- Username: This should be 6-20 characters. Use a combination of letters and numbers for security.
- Example:
smith_john_2024orjsmith123 - Avoid using just your name or easy-to-guess information
- You can’t use spaces, but you can use underscores or hyphens
- Check Username Requirements for complete rules
- Example:
- Password: This must be at least 12 characters and include:
- At least one uppercase letter (A-Z)
- At least one lowercase letter (a-z)
- At least one number (0-9)
- At least one special character (!@#$%^&*)
- Example:
Harris2024!@#secure - Don’t use your name, username, or anything personal
- Don’t reuse old passwords
Step 5: Set Security Questions
- Harris Teeter will ask you to choose 3 security questions
- These are backup ways to verify your identity if you forget your password
- Make sure you remember the answers—write them down somewhere safe if needed
- Examples: “What was the name of your first pet?” “What city were you born in?”
- The answers are case-insensitive but be consistent
Step 6: Agree to Terms and Create Account
- Read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (I know, nobody does, but they’re important)
- Check the box: “I agree to the Terms of Service”
- Click “Create Account”
Step 7: Verify Your Email
- Harris Teeter will send you a verification email
- Check your inbox (and spam folder)
- Click the verification link in the email, or copy the verification code and paste it into MyHTSpace
- Your account is now active!
You’re Done! You can now login with your username and password.

- Enter your username and new password
- Click “Login”
What If Email/Text Doesn’t Work?
Sometimes your email isn’t working, your phone is lost, or you changed your number and forgot to update MyHTSpace. Here’s what to do:
Option 1: Use a Different Verification Method
- When you click “Forgot Password,” try a different method
- If email didn’t work, try phone
- If phone didn’t work, try security questions
- If security questions didn’t work, try email
- One of these usually works
Option 2: Contact Harris Teeter HR
- Go to your HR department at your store location
- Bring a government ID
- Tell them you need to reset your MyHTSpace password
- They can verify your identity and help you reset it
- Usually takes 5-10 minutes
- You’ll get a temporary password and can set a permanent one when you get home
Option 3: Contact MyHTSpace Support
- Call 1-800-HARRI-TT (1-800-427-7488)
- Press option 2 for MyHTSpace support
- Have your Social Security Number and Employee ID ready
- They’ll verify your identity and help you reset
- Wait time: 5-15 minutes depending on call volume
Two-Factor Authentication Setup
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security. Even if someone gets your password, they still can’t login without your phone or email.
Why You Should Enable 2FA
I was skeptical about 2FA at first—it seemed like extra work. But here’s the thing: if someone steals your MyHTSpace password, they could access your pay stubs, benefits information, and personal details. 2FA prevents that.
Harris Teeter doesn’t require 2FA, but I’d recommend turning it on. It takes literally 5 minutes to set up.
How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Step 1: Login to MyHTSpace
- Go to https://myhtspace.harristeeter.com
- Login with your username and password
Step 2: Go to Account Settings
- Look for your name in the top right corner
- Click your name → “Account Settings” (or look for a gear/settings icon)
- Click “Security” or “Two-Factor Authentication”
Step 3: Choose Your 2FA Method
You can choose one or more of these:
Method 1: Authenticator App (Recommended)
- Download an authenticator app on your phone:
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
- (All are free)
- When you enable 2FA in MyHTSpace, it will show you a QR code
- Open your authenticator app
- Scan the QR code with your phone camera
- The app will generate a 6-digit code
- Enter that code into MyHTSpace to verify
- Done! From now on, when you login, the app will generate a new code every 30 seconds
Method 2: Text Message (SMS)
- Choose “Text Message” as your 2FA method
- Confirm your phone number is correct
- Harris Teeter will text you a verification code
- Enter the code into MyHTSpace
- From now on, when you login, you’ll get a text with a 6-digit code
- Enter it to complete login
Method 3: Email
- Choose “Email” as your 2FA method
- Confirm your email is correct
- MyHTSpace will email you a verification link
- Enter the code from the email to verify setup
- From now on, when you login, you’ll get an email with a code
- Enter it to complete login
Best Practices for 2FA
- Use the authenticator app if you can—it’s more secure than text message
- Save your backup codes when 2FA sets them up (they’re usually 8 codes you can use if you lose your phone)
- Keep your phone number updated if you use SMS
- Don’t share your codes with anyone
Troubleshooting Login Problems
This is where I want to help because login issues are frustrating, and there are usually simple fixes.
“Invalid Username or Password”
This is the most common error. Nine times out of ten, it’s one of these three things:
1. Caps Lock Is On
- Seriously, this is it 50% of the time
- Look at your keyboard—is the caps lock light on?
- If yes, turn it off and try again
- Username and password are case-sensitive
2. You’re Using Your Email Instead of Username (or Vice Versa)
- You created a username during registration (like “jsmith123”)
- But the system also has your email address
- Try using your username
- If that doesn’t work, try your email address
- One of these should work
3. Your Password Is Actually Wrong
- You might have mistyped it
- Try resetting your password
- Use the “Forgot Password” link to set a new one
- This is faster than trying to remember it
“Account Locked”
If you see “Your account has been locked due to multiple failed login attempts,” here’s what happened:
- You (or someone) entered the wrong password 5+ times
- For security reasons, your account is now locked for 30 minutes
- Wait 30 minutes and try again
- If it keeps happening, reset your password
- If it keeps happening after that, contact HR
“Page Won’t Load” or “Connection Timed Out”
This usually means MyHTSpace is either down or you don’t have internet.
Check #1: Is It Actually Loading?
- Wait 10-15 seconds
- Sometimes MyHTSpace is just slow
- It’s worth waiting
Check #2: Is MyHTSpace Down?
- Try on your phone hotspot instead of WiFi
- If it works on mobile data, your WiFi is the problem
- If it doesn’t work on mobile either, MyHTSpace might be down
- Check https://status.harristeeter.com (if this exists) for any updates
- Or call 1-800-HARRI-TT for status
Check #3: Clear Your Cache
- Your browser is storing old information
- This sometimes prevents pages from loading correctly
- Clear your cache:
- Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac)
- Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac)
- Safari: Empty Cache in Develop menu
- Refresh the page and try again
Check #4: Try a Different Browser
- If it’s not loading in Chrome, try Firefox
- If it’s not loading in Safari, try Chrome
- If it works in a different browser, you have a browser issue
- Reinstalling the browser or clearing all data usually fixes this
“Two-Factor Authentication Code Not Working”
Your 2FA code didn’t work? Here are the reasons:
The Code Expired
- 2FA codes are only good for 30 seconds
- If you took too long to type it in, it expired
- Just wait 30 more seconds and a new code will appear
- Type the new one in
Your Phone/Clock Is Wrong
- 2FA codes are based on time
- If your phone’s time is wrong, the code won’t match
- Check your phone’s date and time settings
- Make sure it’s set to automatic (not manual)
- Wait a minute and try a new code
You’re Typing It Wrong
- Make sure you’re typing the code correctly
- Double-check: no spaces, no dashes, just numbers
- The app shows you what to type—copy/paste if possible
Wrong Device/Lost Your Phone
- If you lost your phone or don’t have access to your authenticator app, use your backup codes
- These were provided when you set up 2FA
- If you don’t have them, reset your password or contact HR
“Site Might Be Down For Maintenance”
Harris Teeter usually does maintenance on MyHTSpace Sundays from 2 AM-6 AM Eastern Time.
- If you see a maintenance message, just wait a few hours
- Try again later
- This usually doesn’t last more than 4 hours

- Bookmark or Home Screen: It’s easier than typing the URL each time
- Push Notifications: You can enable notifications so you get alerts when your schedule is posted or when your paycheck is available
- The App vs Website: They have the same features. Use whichever is more convenient
For more detailed information about the app, check out MyHTSpace Mobile App Guide.
Accessing Via VPN
If you’re trying to access MyHTSpace from home and you live outside the United States, or if you’re having connection issues, you might need to use the Harris Teeter VPN.
Note: You don’t need VPN to access MyHTSpace from home—it’s accessible worldwide. But if you’re having issues, VPN sometimes helps.
Why Use VPN?
- If you’re outside the US and MyHTSpace blocks you
- If your internet service provider is blocking access
- If you’re on a public WiFi and want extra security
- If you’re getting weird error messages about location
For complete instructions on setting up and using the corporate VPN, check out MyHTSpace VPN Access Guide.
Security Best Practices
Now that you can login, let’s talk about keeping your account secure.
Your Password: Make It Strong
- At least 12 characters (longer is better)
- Mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
- No personal information (your name, birth date, address)
- No dictionary words (even with numbers added, like “Password123”)
- Unique to MyHTSpace (don’t use this password for other accounts)
Example of a strong password: HarrisTT2024!Blue#Oak
Example of a weak password: harris2024 (too common, no special character)
Never Share Your Password
- Not with your manager, not with HR, not with a friend
- Harris Teeter will never ask for your password via email or phone
- If someone asks for your password, it’s a scam
Keep Your Contact Information Updated
- If you change your phone number, update it in MyHTSpace
- If you change your email, update it in MyHTSpace
- If you change your address, update it in MyHTSpace
- This ensures you can recover your account if you forget your password
Enable Two-Factor Authentication
- It’s not required, but it’s one of the best security investments you can make
- Takes 5 minutes to set up
- Prevents 99% of account takeovers
Be Careful on Public WiFi
- MyHTSpace is encrypted, so it’s generally safe on public WiFi
- But if you’re logging in from a coffee shop or library:
- Make sure you’re on the legitimate WiFi network (not a fake one)
- Log out when you’re done (don’t just close the browser)
- Don’t let your laptop sit unattended while logged in
What To Do If You Think Your Account Is Compromised
If you think someone else has accessed your account:
- Change your password immediately
- Update your personal information – check that nothing was changed
- Check your recent activity – see if anything looks off
- Contact HR – let them know what happened
- Monitor your pay stubs – make sure direct deposit info hasn’t changed
